How To Go For The Lights Out Option On Twitter on iOS

Image: Shutterstock

It seems like Dark Mode is the much-needed element on any app these days, and the ones who love this, might like this news! After a not-so-dark mode on its web and Android versions, Twitter is now bringing an actual one to iOS users.

iOS users will now be able to switch to the dark mode, which Twitter calls Lights Outwhen the lights are truly out to avoid overstraining the eyes and ensure ease of usage in low or no lights.

To recall, Twitter for Android already has the dark mode feature going by the name Night mode. However, the feature is more of a mixture of dark blue and gray colors rather than a black one.

For those who prefer the Night mode, Twitter for iOS also has it, except the name is now Dim. Therefore, Twitter for iOS has both the dark mode options for all the OCD peeps who want more black to their dark mode.
How To Enable The Dark Mode

Click on the Profile picture option.

The next step is the selection of the Settings and Privacy option.

You are now required to tap on the Display and Sound option.

Just select the Dark Mode option to enable either the new Lights Out option (for the black dark theme) or the Dim option (for the dark blue and gray theme), whichever is your preference.

Additionally, iOS users can select the Automatic dark mode option which automatically switches on the mode when it’s night time and disables it once it’s day time.

The new Dark Mode has started rolling out for iOS users and will eventually reach out to all of them.

2019 iMac Benchmark Scores Reveal a Worthwhile Boost in Performance

Apple recently announced brand new iMac models, all of which are equipped with newer processors under the hood to keep things humming along.

Now, Geekbench has put together a nice write-up on the performance boost that the new models bring to the table. For those keeping track, the 8th- and 9th-generation Coffee Lake chips are equipped inside. Across the board, this has built up to faster performance when compared to the 2017 iMac models.

Apple’s new 21.5- and 27-inch iMacs are the benefactors of better processors. The single-core performance score for the 21.5-inch iMac with an Intel Core i5 is 5267. Compare that to an iMac from mid-2017 equipped with an Intel Core i7 with a score of 5252. The 2019 iMac with a Core Intel i3, however, sees a score of 4689. So if you want better performance, you’ll unsurprisingly have to fork over for a faster processor.

Meanwhile, the multi-score for for the same 21.5-inch iMac with an Intel Core i5 is 20539. The mid-2017 iMac with an Intel Core i7 has a multi-core score of 17850. The Core Intel i3-equipped 2019 iMac, meanwhile, has a score of 14170.

“For the new 21.5-inch iMac with i3 and i5 processors, single-core performance is up 5-10%, and multi-core performance is up 10-50%. Since the processor architecture is effectively unchanged between the 7th generation and the 8th generation Intel Core processors, most of the increase is due to higher frequencies and higher core counts.”

Moving on to the 27-inch iMac, Geekbench reveals that the single-core score is set at 6157 for the Intel Core i9-equipped model. The Core Intel i5 option of the same year is in second place with a score of 5800. The mid-2017 iMac with a Core i7 inside comes in third, with a single-core score of 5684.

Next, the multi-core scores. As you might have guessed, the Intel Core i9-equipped 2019 iMac is at the top of the heap, with a score of 32293. Next, in second place, the Core i5-equipped 2019 iMac with a score of 22650. The 2019 iMac actually earns the top four spots. So, in fifth, is the mid-2017 Core i7 option with a score of 19371.

“For the new 27-inch iMac, single-core performance is up 6-11%. Multi-core performance is up 43-49% for the 6-core models, and up 66% for the 8-core models. Again, the increase is due to higher frequencies and core counts, not to any architectural improvements.”

So, if you were hoping that the 2019 iMacs would be powerful, that seems to be the case. Especially when compared to the immediate predecessors.
We Want To Hear From You

If you were holding off on upgrading your iMac to the newest models, do these performance scores help seal the deal for you?

AirPods 2 Now Available for In-Store Pickup

Apple's updated second-generation AirPods began arriving to customers around the world this morning, marking the official launch of the new earbuds.

The new AirPods have also made their way into stores and are available for in-store pickup. Many stores across the United States appear to have immediate availability of the AirPods, so if you want a set, you can pop into a retail location and get them today.

It's not clear how much available supply there is, but almost are stores are listing stock at the current time.

Retail stores are stocking the AirPods 2 with Wireless Charging Case ($199), AirPods 2 with standard Charging Case ($159), and the standalone Wireless Charging Case ($79) that adds wireless charging capabilities to your existing AirPods.

Apple's second-generation AirPods continue to be available solely in white, and there were no design changes introduced with the update. The AirPods are equipped with an updated H1 chip, which brings connectivity improvements. AirPods now connect more quickly to your devices, and swapping between devices is two times faster.

Bluetooth 5.0 is supported for improved range, and the new AirPods have a hands-free "Hey Siri" feature so you no longer need to activate Siri by tapping on one of the earbuds (though this option still exists).

The major new feature with the AirPods 2 is of course wireless charging, which, with the Wireless Charging Case allows the AirPods and case to be charged using any Qi-based wireless charging option. When the long-awaited and still missing AirPower is released, the new AirPods Wireless Charging Case will be required to charge AirPods with the accessory. Also Read:Update Android

iPad Pro

Apple’s iPad lineup consists of the 11-inch iPad Pro and the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. These devices are aimed at professional and hardcore power users who are looking at a proper PC replacement. These devices are meant for content creation rather than just content consumption. The combination of slim bezels and a newer design means the 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro are more compact than what their screen sizes would suggest.

While extremely powerful, these tablets are also extremely expensive.

iPad Air

Apple is bringing back its iPad Air lineup with the 10.5-inch iPad Air. It is a tablet meant for power users who are on a budget. These users will primarily use the iPad for content consumption and for some light content creation work. The 10.50-inch iPad Air packs a powerful A12 Bionic chip but it is not as powerful as the A12X Bionic chip found inside the iPad Pro lineup. It also makes a few other compromises to reach its lower $499 price tag.
iPad mini 5

Always wanted a small and portable iPad that’s easy to carry around with speedy internals? That’s what the iPad mini 5 is for. While I don’t think a tablet with a 7.9-inch display makes sense anymore, the iPad mini 5 is exactly what many people are looking for. The combination of small display size, powerful internals, and oodles of storage make it a perfect traveling companion for many.
iPad

The 9.7-inch iPad is currently the cheapest tablet in Apple’s iPad lineup. It is also the oldest and the slowest featuring an A10 Bionic chip. For most students looking for light creative work though, the 9.7-inch iPad is going to serve just fine.

Which iPad is your favorite and which one are you considering buying? Do you need all the extra horsepower offered by the iPad Pro? Or the 10.5-inch iPad Air is going to be good enough for all your needs? Drop a comment and let us know!
